Welcome to SpeedStar ("SpeedStar", "we", "our", or "us").
SpeedStar is an internet performance measurement platform that helps users measure, monitor, and better understand the quality of their internet connection through accurate speed tests and network diagnostics.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices available to you when using:
- SpeedStar Android Application
- SpeedStar Website
- Future SpeedStar applications and related services
By using SpeedStar, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Our Privacy Commitment
Privacy is one of the core principles behind SpeedStar.
We believe users should be able to test their internet connection without creating an account or sharing unnecessary personal information.
The current version of SpeedStar:
- does not require registration
- does not require sign in
- does not require user accounts
- stores your speed test history locally on your own device
- does not upload your locally stored history to SpeedStar servers
We collect only the information necessary to provide, improve, secure, and maintain our services.
2. Information We Collect
To perform an internet speed test, certain technical information must be processed.
Depending on how you use SpeedStar, we may collect the following categories of information.
A. Speed Test Information
Whenever you start a speed test, SpeedStar measures information such as:
- Download speed
- Upload speed
- Ping (Latency)
- Jitter (when supported)
- Network response times
- Test duration
- Selected testing server
- Connection type (Wi-Fi, Mobile Data, Ethernet)
- Internet Service Provider (ISP), when available
This information is required to calculate and display accurate speed test results.
B. Network Information
During a speed test, internet communications naturally include technical information such as:
- Public IP address
- Network protocol information
- Request and response timing
- Connection metadata necessary for testing
This information is processed only to perform the requested speed test.
SpeedStar does not use this information to identify individual users.
C. Device Information
We may receive limited technical information about your device, including:
- Device manufacturer
- Device model
- Android version
- Application version
- Screen resolution
- Device language
- Country or region (derived from device settings or network information)
This information helps us improve compatibility, troubleshoot issues, and optimize the application.
D. Analytics Information
SpeedStar uses Firebase Analytics to better understand how users interact with the application.
- App launches
- Feature usage
- Session duration
- Device type
- General usage statistics
Analytics information is used only to improve the product and user experience.
E. Crash Diagnostics
SpeedStar uses Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect crash reports and diagnostic information when unexpected errors occur
Crash reports help us:
- fix bugs
- improve stability
- improve reliability
- reduce application crashes
Crash reports do not include your locally stored speed test history.
F. Advertising Information
If advertisements are displayed within SpeedStar, Google AdMob may collect certain information such as:
- Advertising ID
- Device information
- General location derived from your IP address
- Advertisement interactions
This information is handled according to Google's privacy practices and is used to deliver and measure advertisements.
G. Subscription Information
SpeedStar offers an optional premium subscription through Google Play Billing.
When you purchase a subscription, Google notifies SpeedStar that your subscription is active so that premium features can be enabled.
SpeedStar does not receive or store your payment card details, bank account information, or other payment credentials.
Subscription purchases are securely processed by Google through the Google Play Store.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
The current version of SpeedStar does not collect or require:
- Your name
- Email address
- Password
- Phone number
- Postal address
- Contacts
- Photos
- Videos
- Audio recordings
- SMS messages
- Call history
- Payment information
- Credit card information
- Government-issued identification
- Precise GPS location
- Credit card numbers
- Debit card numbers
- Bank account information
- Payment credentials
You can use SpeedStar without creating a personal profile.
All subscription payments are securely processed by Google Play. SpeedStar does not process or store your payment information.
4. Local Storage
SpeedStar stores certain information locally on your device for your convenience.
This may include:
- Speed test history
- Data usage history
- Application preferences
This information:
- remains on your device
- is not uploaded to SpeedStar servers
- is not synchronized to cloud storage
- is not associated with a user account
If you clear the application's storage or uninstall the application, this locally stored information will be permanently removed.
5. How SpeedStar Performs Speed Tests
SpeedStar uses its own custom-built speed testing engine.
We do not use third-party speed test SDKs such as Ookla® or Fast.com®.
To perform internet performance measurements, SpeedStar currently communicates with testing infrastructure hosted by Cloudflare.
These connections are used only to measure:
- Download performance
- Upload performance
- Network latency
Cloudflare acts as the current network testing infrastructure and does not provide user accounts for SpeedStar.
The underlying testing infrastructure may change in future versions without affecting this Privacy Policy, provided the way your personal information is handled remains substantially the same.
6. Third-Party Services
To operate SpeedStar, we currently use trusted third-party services, including:
- Google Play Services
- Firebase Analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics
- Google AdMob
- Cloudflare (network testing infrastructure)
- Google Play Billing
These providers may process certain technical information necessary to provide their respective services.
Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies.
7. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- perform internet speed tests
- display accurate test results
- improve application performance
- diagnose crashes
- understand feature usage
- improve reliability
- maintain application security
- provide advertisements (where applicable)
- comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information for automated profiling or decision-making.
8. Subscription Purchases
SpeedStar offers an optional premium subscription through Google Play Billing.
Premium subscriptions may provide benefits including:
- Ad-free experience
- Premium features
- Additional benefits introduced in future updates
All purchases are securely processed by Google.
Subscription billing, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and payment management are handled by Google Play in accordance with Google's policies.
Users can manage or cancel their subscriptions at any time through the Google Play Store.
9. Data Sharing
SpeedStar does not sell your personal information.
We do not share your locally stored speed test history with third parties.
Information may be shared only:
- with trusted service providers necessary to operate the application
- when required by law
- to protect the rights, safety, or security of SpeedStar, our users, or others
10. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by SpeedStar.
These measures include:
- HTTPS encrypted communication
- Secure network connections
- Access controls
- Industry-standard security practices
Although we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
11. Children's Privacy
SpeedStar is not directed toward children under the age of 13, or the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
12. Your Choices
You remain in control of your locally stored information.
You may:
- clear your speed test history
- clear your data usage history
- clear application storage
- uninstall the application at any time
Because SpeedStar currently does not provide user accounts, there is no cloud profile to delete.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When material changes are made, we will update the Effected date shown at the top of this document.
Continued use of SpeedStar after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
