The Android application uses Firebase Analytics to better understand how people use the app. The website does not use Firebase Analytics. It uses Google Analytics 4 only if you accept, as described under Website.

SpeedStar uses Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect crash reports and diagnostic information when unexpected errors occur.

If advertisements are displayed in the Android application, Google AdMob may collect certain information such as:

SpeedStar offers an optional premium subscription through Google Play Billing.

When you purchase a subscription, Google notifies SpeedStar that your subscription is active so that premium features can be enabled.

SpeedStar does not receive or store your payment card details, bank account information, or other payment credentials.

Subscription purchases are securely processed by Google through the Google Play Store.

The website at https://speedstar.xyz can be used without an account. This section describes the website only. It does not change the Android description above.

Contact form. If you send a message, SpeedStar receives the name, email address, subject, and message you enter. The request also includes the time it was sent, the browser user agent, and the IP address of the request. The speed test does not ask for your name or email address.

Email delivery. The message and those details are emailed to SpeedStar through Resend, an email delivery service. Resend also sends an automatic reply to the email address you entered. A submission does not succeed unless the email to SpeedStar is sent.

Google Sheets. When it is configured, SpeedStar also adds a row to a Google Sheet with the time, name, email address, subject, and message. The IP address and browser user agent are not added to the sheet.

Limits on repeated submissions. The server counts submissions by IP address and by email address, up to 5 of each in 15 minutes. These counters are kept in the server's memory, not in the Google Sheet or an account.

Cloudflare Turnstile. The contact page loads Cloudflare Turnstile in your browser to check that the submission comes from a person. When you send the form, the Turnstile result and your IP address are sent to Cloudflare for verification. In production, a submission is rejected when that verification is unavailable or fails. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to its processing.

IP lookup. Opening the speed test, or running one, makes your browser contact Cloudflare to choose a test server and to read the public IP address seen by that test. The browser also requests ipwho.is to identify the internet provider. If ipwho.is does not answer, it requests ipapi.co. Those provider responses can include a public IP address, provider name, city, country, and approximate coordinates. The page shows the provider, the test server location, and the IP address. It does not show coordinates.

Results. The website shows your speed test result on screen for the current visit. It does not save results to an account, and it does not send them to SpeedStar unless you accept analytics, as described below.

Browser storage. The website stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage when you pick one. It also stores your privacy choice there under the name speedstar-consent, together with the date you made it and a version number, so that every page respects your choice. Neither value is sent to SpeedStar. The website does not store speed test history.

Analytics. The production website uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-N6XBPFMS1J), but only if you accept. It stays off until you choose. The tag never loads during local development or on preview deployments.

Asking first. Every visitor is asked first, wherever they are. The Google tag is not loaded, no analytics cookie is set, and no analytics event is sent unless you choose Accept. Analytics is never preselected. Choosing Reject, or not answering, keeps analytics off.

After you accept analytics. SpeedStar sends a page view containing the page path and title, a speed_test_start event when a test begins, and a speed_test_complete event with download speed, upload speed, HTTP round-trip time, jitter, and the share of HTTP timing probes that failed. SpeedStar does not add your name, email address, IP address, internet provider, or location to those events. Google's servers still receive your IP address and browser details with each request your browser makes to Google. Google sets cookies named _ga and _ga_N6XBPFMS1J on the SpeedStar website to tell visits apart. By Google's default they last up to two years unless they are removed. SpeedStar turns off Google signals and ad personalization for this tag and tells Google that advertising consent is denied. Google processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy and may process it outside your country, including in the United States.

Changing or withdrawing your choice. Use the "Privacy and cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. If you turn analytics off, the website stops sending events, deletes the _ga cookies it can reach in your browser, and reloads the page without the Google tag. The Google tag sends events in short batches, so an event recorded just before you withdrew may still reach Google as the page reloads. Withdrawing does not delete data Google has already received. That data is kept for the retention period set in SpeedStar's Google Analytics property. Your choice lasts six months. After that, or sooner if SpeedStar materially changes this description, you are asked again.

Advertising. The website does not currently show advertising. The production pages include a google-adsense-account meta tag with publisher ID ca-pub-8885708485325119 so Google can confirm that SpeedStar owns the site. The tag is text in the page. It does not load an AdSense script, request ads, or set cookies. The website loads no AdSense script, so no SpeedStar advertisement or placeholder box is shown, and ads.txt is not published. If advertising is later enabled, Google's ad services may process advertising identifiers and general location derived from an IP address, and a consent choice will be required where the law or Google's policies demand it.

Hosting. The website is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard request information, such as the IP address and browser user agent, to deliver pages.
