How it works

Connect
SpeedStar connects to a nearby test location over your real internet connection. Your result reflects that path, not lab conditions or a server picked to flatter the score.

Measure
First it checks how quickly your connection responds, then measures download speed, then upload speed, one after the other. A full test usually takes a little over 10 seconds.

Understand
Results show download speed, upload speed, latency and jitter, plus a Good, Medium or Poor rating for video streaming, online gaming and video chatting based on those numbers.
Technology
SpeedStar runs entirely in your browser. It sends and receives test data over several connections at once, skips the first moments while your connection warms up, and reports the speed your connection actually sustained. Each result is a snapshot of your connection at that moment, not a guarantee of your plan's speed.
